Please write a short research statement (about 300 words) in English describing what you would like to do as a master's student in the School of Forestry and Resource Conservation, National Taiwan University.
-
開頭(Introduction):
(School of Forestry and Resource Conservation)感興趣,以及為何選擇臺灣大學(National Taiwan University)。
(Research Interests and Goals):

- 「約1億2900萬公頃」:approximately 129 million hectares
- 「年淨減少330萬公頃」:a net annual loss of 3.3 million hectares
10%」:account for 10% of the world's land area
Today, the world has less than 4 billion hectares of forest. Forests accounted for 31.6% of the world’s total land area in 1990, but this figure has declined to 30.6%. Over the past 25 years, approximately 129 million hectares of forest have been lost. The average forest area per person has also decreased from 0.8 hectares in 1990 to 0.55 hectares.
Over the past five years, afforestation activities and the natural expansion of forests in certain countries and regions have greatly slowed the rate of global forest loss. Nevertheless, approximately 7.6 million hectares of forest continue to be destroyed each year. The world’s forest area is disappearing at a net annual rate of 3.3 million hectares, equivalent to approximately the area of Taiwan’s main island, and the vast majority of this loss involves primary forests.
Primary forests account for approximately 35% of the world’s total natural forest area, which covers about 3.7 billion hectares, and 1
